Sustainable Forestry

Sustainability should be the core focus for any industry. In its essence, sustainable production is a way to utilize natural resources without damaging the area’s ecosystems. This approach ensures the capability to equitably meet the human needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

PANON is a hardwood trading and export company, founded in 1992, and is dedicated to sustainable approaches to forestry since beginning. All of our products are FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council)® certified (FSC-C008024), assuring that they have come from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly.

FSC is an international non-profit organization, focused on promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC sets and promotes standards of forest products, along with certifying and labeling them as eco-friendly. Compliance with FSC standards are an effective way to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

For a company to be FSC certified, it has to meet ten FSC principles for responsible forest management. These rules apply to all forest types.

The FSC certification represents the verification of the care chain in the sustainable development of the source forest. The care chain monitors FSC certified material through the manufacturing process from forest to consumer. All interstices and all owners of the production chain must be holders of FSC certification in order to ultimately mark the final product with the prescribed FSC markings. Such tags represent a link between responsible production and consumption, and allow consumers to make a socially and environmentally responsible purchase.

Furthermore, FSC certification demonstrates that the certificate holder takes seriously the environmental concerns of consumers. PANON is committed to sustainable forestry, working together with others in the wood business to create a better (and greener) future for everyone.
